An armed man hijacked an ambulance in Houston while a patient was inside early Friday morning.
Police posted on Twitter that the ambulance was found on the highway and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the ambulance was carrying a patient when a car pulled up in front of the ambulance and the driver came out to point a gun at the ambulance driver, Click2Houston.com reported.
The gunman forced the driver out of the ambulance and took off in the vehicle with another firefighter and a patient in the back.
Police Chief Samuel Peña said the female firefighter managed to defuse the situation despite the gunman pointing the gun at her while she attended to the patient.
“It’s not their job to be kidnapped, to be assaulted at gunpoint,” Peña said. “But it has definitely become a risk for the job. I am very grateful that everyone is doing well, but it is not acceptable.
The firefighter who was forced out of the ambulance and left by the side of the road called the police.
“We immediately followed him. Our operations center and dispatch knew exactly what was going on and we were able to follow the ambulance at all times, ”said Houston Deputy Fire Chief Isaac Garcia, according to the local outlet.
“He appeared to surrender peacefully, from what I was told. He got out and one of the policemen pulled the ambulance off the freeway to where we can see it now. “
The ambulance patient was transported to hospital in another vehicle. The gunman is also in hospital as he appeared to have difficulty standing after exiting the ambulance.
