Infinite halo, the next game in Microsoft’s long-running franchise, launches on December 8. The date appeared on the Microsoft Store today and will likely be officially confirmed later today when Gamescom opens. Source familiar with Microsoft’s plans tells The edge that December 8 is correct.
Microsoft had originally planned to launch Infinite halo alongside the Xbox Series X / S in November 2020 but delayed the game to fall 2021 in part due to challenges in game development during a pandemic.
Infinite haloDevelopment has clearly been bumpy, and Microsoft even assigned Bungie veteran Joseph Staten to lead the game’s development almost a year ago. While we haven’t seen much campaign gameplay since the infamous Craig meme was born last year, the first multiplayer tech preview looked and looked like the Halo that fans will enjoy playing.
Official launch date comes just days after 343 Industries revealed Infinite halo will not be launched with the Co-op Campaign and Forge. Co-op play with friends is set to arrive in season two of Infinite halo, approximately three months after launch. Forge mode, which allows Halo players to customize and share maps, won’t arrive until season two of Infinite halo, approximately six months after launch.
HaloThe co-op campaign and Forge mode are popular elements of the franchise, so the news naturally disappointed fans. But the main Infinite halo the campaign and multiplayer will launch on December 8, so fans will get a taste of the news Halo in less than four months.
