Harris County COVID-19 vaccine waiting list: 29,000 vaccines given in county, hopes to receive more soon

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A total of 370,000 Texans are now fully vaccinated as the Lone Star State has administered more than two million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, but how many residents of Harris County have been vaccinated?

Just days after Harris County’s wait list issues, Judge Lina Hidalgo announced that at 11 a.m. Thursday, 146,000 people had signed up on her wait list website to get the COVID vaccine. 19. To date, 29,000 vaccines have been administered in the county.

“We continue to work efficiently. We have to be patient. There won’t be enough supplies until probably late spring or summer for the majority of people. But we are doing what we can to make sure that there is a fair and equitable approach. It will not be resolved overnight, “Hidalgo said.

During Thursday’s conference, Hidalgo added that the county will go through all of its supply by the end of the week, but for anyone concerned about their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Hidalgo said you shouldn’t worry.

“You will be scheduled for the second dose,” she says. “Already this week we’ve done about 4,000 doses. We have a system in Harris County to track. We have been assured by the state and the federal government that we will continue to receive doses.”

Harris County receives about 9,000 doses per week and hopes to receive 30,000 per week soon.

“We continue to ask for more doses from the federal and state governments. We need supply chains to catch up, ”she said.
