Harrison Burton will join Wood Brothers Racing in 2022, replacing Matt DiBenedetto; Brad Keselowski won’t return to Penske – The Athletic

Harrison Burton will replace Matt DiBenedetto at Wood Brothers Racing in 2022 and drive the No.21 car full time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Burton, the 20-year-old son of longtime NASCAR Cup driver and current NBC Sports analyst Jeff Burton, is in his second full Xfinity Series season with Joe Gibbs Racing. Burton won four times in the Xfinity 2020 season and took home Rookie of the Year honors. After 18 races this season, he is winless but sits fifth with five top-five classifications.

Burton is the latest piece from Penske and the Wood Brothers to solidify their 2022 Cup roster rosters.

Penske and Wood Brothers announced last fall that Penske Xfinity rider Austin Cindric will replace DiBenedetto in 2022, but that transition has become muddled this spring.
