Pokémon Unite gets release date on Nintendo Switch

We already knew that Pokémon Unite, a spin-off with gameplay similar to League of Legends, was coming to Nintendo Switch in July. Today, the game’s official Twitter account confirmed that the game will arrive on Nintendo’s hybrid console on July 21.

The announcement also revealed that the electric-type Zeraora will be on the game’s roster, and players who log into the game before August 31 will unlock it for free. Check out a new trailer – which shows off plenty of gameplay, as well as some customization options – below:

Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA game in which two teams of five players compete to gain control of multiple points spread across a map. The game was originally announced in June 2020 as part of a Pokémon Presents presentation and is being developed by TiMi Studios, a Tencent affiliate known for developing Call of Duty: Mobile.

Nintendo Switch isn’t the only platform this game will arrive on; Pokémon Unite will also arrive on Android and iOS devices in September.

As the popular Nintendo IP celebrates its 25th anniversary, Pokémon Unite is among a small handful of Pokémon titles coming this year, with New Pokémon Snap launching earlier this year and Gen Four remakes of Briliant Diamond and Shining. Pearl is slated to launch on November 19 for the Nintendo Switch.
