Harvey Weinstein is ill and is “closely watched” in prison, a representative for the disgraced Hollywood mogul said.
The spokesperson said they could not “confirm or deny” that the 68-year-old tested positive for Covid-19 inside Wende Correctional Center in New York.
Weinstein, who is serving a 23-year sentence for rape, has a fever, his representative confirmed to the PA News Agency.
The once-all-powerful film producer is considered vulnerable to the coronavirus due to his age, weight and other medical issues, including heart disease and high blood pressure.
A spokesperson for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said it could not comment on individual cases, but anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 is immediately isolated and tested. .
Weinstein’s health was at the center of his trial. He arrived in court looking frail and using a walker, and his lawyers tried to minimize his jail term by telling a judge that a long sentence was de facto a life sentence.
After his conviction on February 24, Weinstein was sent to Bellevue Hospital amid concerns about high blood pressure and heart palpitations.
Weinstein also faces sexual assault charges in Los Angeles and allegedly assaulted five women in California from 2004 to 2013.
If convicted on the West Coast, Weinstein faces up to 140 years in life.

An extradition hearing is scheduled for December in Buffalo. In September, Weinstein was stripped of his CBE.
