The newlyweds in Ohio whose marriage turned into a coronavirus super-spread event opened up on the ordeal, describing the emotional “toll” of learning about the increase in cases.

Of the 83 people present at Anthony and Mikayla Bishop’s Halloween wedding in the town of Blue Ash, Ohio, a total of 32 have since tested positive for the coronavirus, including the couple and three of their grandparents, a reported WLWT.

“Every day we get a call. Oh, here’s another person. Here is another person. Here is another person. And it’s starting to take its toll on you, ”said Mikayla Bishop.

Mikayla said most of their wedding guests did not have masks for their big day, though the couple do provide face covers for all attendees.

“I didn’t think nearly half of our wedding guests were going to get sick,” the bride told the store.

“You are in the moment. You’re having fun. You don’t think about COVID anymore, ”she said.

The couple fell ill on their way to their honeymoon in North Carolina. The groom had mild symptoms, but Mikayla suffered from a more severe episode of the virus.

Two of the three grandparents who contracted coronavirus have been hospitalized.
