In a surprising development that shatters astronomical expectations for men's basketball Marquette next season, the Golden Eagles announced Monday that brothers Sam and Joey Hauser would be transferred at the end of the semester.

Sam Hauser, a junior, was a selection of the second fully Big East team with an average of 15.1 points per game.

Joey Hauser, a freshman with a red shirt, averaged 9.8 points per game.

The brothers played together at Stevens Point Area High School, bringing the Panthers to two WIAA championships.

Last Friday, junior goaltender Markus Howard, a year-round player in the Big East and second-team American player, announced that he would return to MU for his senior season.

That raised expectations for next season at MU, with most early-season polls putting the Golden Eagles in the top 10. MU was to return his top seven scorers next season.

The Hauser brothers finished second and third in the team behind the 25 points scored by Howard.
