Health officials in Hawaii today reported six new coronavirus-related deaths and 153 new infections, bringing the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 342 deaths and 25,154 cases.
Five of the dead were in Oahu and one in Maui. No further details were immediately available regarding the latest deaths.
The state’s official death toll from the coronavirus includes 271 deaths in Oahu, 46 on the island of Hawaii, 21 in Maui, one in Kauai and three Hawaii residents who died on the mainland.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the United States was over 418,000 today.
The statewide new cases of infection reported by the Department of Health today include 103 in Oahu, 34 in Maui, eight on the Big Island and eight residents diagnosed outside of Hawaii, officials said.

Health officials said as of Jan. 18, 70,095 vaccines had been administered out of the 154,150 received by the state. Vaccinations by county are Honolulu, 39,886; Maui, 10,195; Hawaii, 7,011; and Kauai, 5,328. The total also included 7,675 administered under the federal pharmacy program.
Oahu moved to the less restrictive Level 2 of Honolulu’s four-tier economic stimulus package on October 22. . To move to level 3 of level 2, the 7-day average of new cases must be less than 50 on two consecutive Wednesdays. In addition, the average 7-day positivity rate must be less than 2.5% on these two Wednesdays.
Today, the seven-day average number of cases for Oahu is 78 and the seven-day average positivity rate is 3.0%, according to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi.
