Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported seven new coronavirus-related deaths and 277 new confirmed and probable infections statewide, bringing the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 808 deaths and 80,128 cases.
No further information was immediately available regarding the latest deaths.
The state’s official coronavirus death toll includes 614 deaths in Oahu, 87 in Maui, 93 on the island of Hawaii, eight in Kauai, one in Molokai, and five Hawaii residents who died outside of the state. State.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the United States today is over 700,000 and the number of infections nationwide is over 43.6 million.
Today’s new confirmed and probable infection count by island includes 161 new cases in Oahu, 21 in Maui, 65 in the island of Hawaii, 29 in Kauai and one resident of Hawaii diagnosed outside of the ‘State.
State health officials included probable infections in the total number of cases. Likely infections include people who have never received a confirmatory test but are suspected of having had the virus because of their exposure and known symptoms or because of a positive antigen test.
The total number of confirmed and probable coronavirus cases per island since the start of the epidemic is 55,650 in Oahu, 9,146 in Maui, 10,209 in Hawaii County, 2,313 in Kauai, 139 in Lanai and 231 in Molokai. There are also 2,440 Hawaii residents who have been diagnosed out of state.
Health officials also said today that of the state’s total infections, 4,460 cases were considered active. Officials say they view infections reported in the past 14 days as a “proxy number for active cases.” The state’s total number of active cases has declined by 193 today.
Per island, Oahu has 2,998 active cases, the Big Island has 753, Maui has 372, Kauai has 311, and Molokai has 26.
Hawaii’s latest COVID-19 vaccine summary shows 2,012,454 doses of the vaccine were administered through state and federal distribution programs on Friday, up 5,382 from the previous day. Health officials say 68% of the state’s population are now fully vaccinated and 76% have received at least one dose.
Of all confirmed cases of infection in Hawaii, 4,371 required hospitalizations, with 19 new hospitalizations reported today.
Twenty hospitalizations in the state’s overall tally are residents of Hawaii who were diagnosed and treated out of state. Of the 4,351 hospitalizations in the state, 3,479 were in Oahu, 482 in Maui, 334 in Big Island, 47 in Kauai, five in Lanai and four in Molokai.
According to the latest information from the department’s Hawaii COVID-19 Data dashboard, a total of 182 patients with the virus were in hospitals in Hawaii on Friday, including 45 in intensive care units and 34 on ventilators.
The seven-day average number of cases for Oahu is 178 and the seven-day average positivity rate is 3.9%, state health officials said today.
