Hawaii Reports 258 New COVID Infections; no additional deaths; 59.6% fully vaccinated

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii saw 258 new cases of COVID on Saturday amid a continuing wave of infections that are increasingly worrying state health officials.

Meanwhile, no additional deaths were reported on Saturday.

The death toll from the virus in the islands stands at 527.

Of the new cases on Saturday, 149 were in Oahu, 44 in Hawaii County, 39 in Maui, two in Lanai and eight in Kauai. There were also 16 residents diagnosed out of state.

The total number of cases in Hawaii since the start of the pandemic is 40,383.

In the past 14 days, the state’s health department said there were 1,777 new cases statewide.

So far, the DOH reports that 59.6% of residents are fully vaccinated.
