Hear the scream of the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 while being tested on a dynamometer

Emissions and noise regulations across Europe are not only slowing cars with high-performance combustion engines, they are also making them less and less attractive. However, the 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 proves that you can still have a sports car in the modern world that sounds amazing and is legal.

Porsche’s flat-six engines have always sounded great, and the new 911 GT3’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine is one of its best to date. Although not much different from the engine of the previous generation GT3, it offers superb response thanks to the independent throttle bodies and delivers an impressive note.

This clip from YouTuber NM2255 shows the new GT3 being bench tested and briefly shows the car developing a twist of over 490 hp and 323 lb-ft (438 Nm) of torque at the rear wheels. That’s very close to Porsche’s official figures of 502 hp and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of crank torque.

As impressive as the new 911 GT3 is, Porsche will soon be launching an even more track-oriented GT3 RS variant. This model will continue to use a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, but adjustments will be made to the engine to deliver over 530 hp. The GT3 RS will also come with many aerodynamic upgrades, but will not be available with a six-speed manual transmission like the GT3.
