Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported 41 new coronavirus infections, bringing the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 28,892 cases.
State health officials have not reported any new coronavirus-related deaths, with the statewide death toll remaining at 454.
The state’s official coronavirus death toll includes 361 deaths in Oahu, 53 on the island of Hawaii, 36 in Maui, one in Kauai, and three Hawaii residents who died out of state.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the United States today was over 543,000 and the number of infections nationwide is over 29.9 million.
New cases of infection statewide today include 28 in Oahu, eight in Maui, one on the island of Hawaii, one on Lanai, three Hawaii residents diagnosed out of state , according to health officials.
Statistics released today reflect the new cases of infection reported to the department on Sunday.
The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the start of the epidemic is 22,638 in Oahu, 2,637 in Maui, 2,385 in Hawaii County, 187 in Kauai, 110 in Lanai and 33 in Molokai. There are also 902 residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed out of state.
Health officials also said today that of the state’s total number of infections, 885 cases were considered active. Officials say they view infections reported in the past 14 days as a “proxy number for active cases.” The number of active cases in the state has dropped by one today.
Per island, Oahu has 500 active cases, Maui has 280, the Big Island has 96, Molokai has six, Kauai has one, and Lanai has two.
Health officials counted 4,296 new COVID-19 test results in today’s tally, for a statewide positivity rate of 0.95%. The state’s 7-day average positivity rate is 1.5%, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Data Dashboard.
The state’s COVID-19 vaccine summary in Hawaii today shows that 547,891 vaccines were administered out of the 691,050 received by the state. About 23.8% of the general population of Hawaii has received at least one dose of the vaccine. Of those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine to date, 49% are 59 years old or younger, while 51% are 60 years old or older. Of the vaccines administered, 523,019 were given to the general public and 24,872 were distributed through the federal pharmacy program, officials said.

Of all confirmed cases of infection in Hawaii, 1,957 required hospitalizations, with four new hospitalizations reported today by state health officials.
Eight hospitalizations statewide are residents of Hawaii who were diagnosed and treated out of state. Of the 1,949 hospitalizations in the state, 1,670 were in Oahu, 160 in Maui, 105 in the Big Island, eight in Kauai, five in Lanai and one in Molokai.
According to the latest information from the department’s Hawaii COVID-19 Data dashboard, a total of 30 patients infected with the virus were in hospitals in Hawaii as of Monday morning, including seven in intensive care units and five on ventilators.
Oahu entered the less restrictive Level 3 of the city’s four-level economic stimulus package on February 25 after being at Level 2 since October 22. 10 people at the table, compared to five now.
