TRAVERSE CITY – Seeing a specialist is never a good sign, and this is the next step for the injured Detroit The Red Wings forward Jakub vrana.

The fact that Vrana had an appointment with a doctor on Monday who will further examine her injured shoulder was all information coach Jeff Blashill would share about Vrana after Sunday’s Red-White scrum on day four of the camp. training at the Center Ice Arena.

β€œI’ll be more up to date as I find relevant information,” Blashill said.

It is not known how Vrana was injured, but he left Saturday practice 10 minutes into the start.

Vrana had just arrived at training camp that day as he was being held in his native Czech Republic while awaiting a visa. Vrana figures as a key part of the Wings’ offense, which is expected to be in the top six and on a power play unit. The 25-year-old was acquired in April as part of a package deal from the Washington Capitals for Anthony Mantha, and signed a three-year contract with an average annual value of $ 5.25 million in August.

With Vrana unavailable, 2020 top pick Lucas Raymond played in his place on Sunday, on a line with Pius Suter and Robby Fabbri.

β€œHe made some really good plays,” Suter said of Raymond. “He finds the place to pass. He can shoot the puck. He looks at ease. He looks confident.

In other injury updates, Blashill said Dylan Larkin will not be available at the start of the exhibition season. Larkin has yet to be cleared for full contact, dating back to the neck injury he sustained in April.

If Vrana is out for a while, it could be an opening for Bobby Ryan to get a contract. He’s in camp for a tryout, but the team have known what he can do since last season, when Ryan, 34, has seven goals and seven assists in 33 games.
