The health department is asking for vaccinations for those who have eaten there in recent weeks.
The Florida County Health Department of Marion is urging vaccination after the discovery of hepatitis A at a Zaxby's food service employee's in Ocala.
The worker was at the restaurant, at 6033 SW State Road 200, from May 13 to June 2, according to a press release.
"The vaccine against hepatitis A can offer protection against the disease if it is administered within two weeks of exposure," the press release said. "Therefore, the vaccine against hepatitis A is recommended to anyone who has never been vaccinated against the virus that ate or drank at this restaurant between May 22 and June 2."
People who have consumed food or beverages at this Zaxby between May 13 and May 21 should watch for the signs and symptoms of hepatitis A infection, including the sudden onset of symptoms. abdominal discomfort, dark urine, fever, diarrhea, pale white stool and yellow skin and eyes.
Anyone suffering from these symptoms should immediately consult a doctor, says the press release.
The health department offers free vaccines against hepatitis A to people who are likely to be affected. To get vaccinated, visit the Ocala Departmental Office at 1801 SE 32nd Ave., from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
