KEENE, N.H. – Public health officials said one child was diagnosed with measles in Keene, N.H.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the source of the infection is still under investigation.

"I think it's really a bit scary when you think of measles," said Amber Sanderson of Keene, NH "It's not something we hear, it's not have been around for a long time and you hear it and you are scared You are terrified for the safety of your family and your young child. "

The child was diagnosed Thursday at the Cheshire Medical Center. Health officials have now determined the public places where this child was earlier and the day and week when others might have been affected.

• The nursery (9am – 1pm) and coffee time (11am – 2pm) at the United Church of Christ at 23 Central Square in Keene on Sunday May 12th
• Infant / Infant Room at Keene Montessori School, located at 125 Railway Street, from 9 am to 3 pm on Thursday May 16th.
• The walk-in clinic at Cheshire Medical Center, located at 149 Emerald Street in Keene, from 1 pm to 5 pm on Thursday, May 16th.

Anyone at the above-mentioned locations at the specified times and dates should urgently review their immunization or immunization status against measles. Measles is highly contagious and spreads in the air, where it can stay up to two hours.

"I do not want anything that can happen to my daughter or other children, so when something happens to a child, it's terrifying," said Mike Sanderson.

"You worry that your child is exposed to a lot of things, and the daycare is very convenient," said Amber Sanderson. "You expect colds, small things here and there – as if your child is going to get sick – but I do not think anyone is expecting a life-threatening illness, it's scary."

The New Hampshire epidemiologist says vaccines can prevent infection even after exposure.

Individuals who are not vaccinated or immunized, or who have questions about their immunization status, are encouraged to contact DPHS as soon as possible at 603-271-9461 or toll free NH residents at 1-800-852-3345 ext . 9461.
