LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) – Health officials have announced confirmation of the first case of measles in nearly two decades in Idaho.

The north central district health department of Idaho announced Wednesday in a statement that a patient from Latah County had tested positive for the virus.

According to the department, people in the laboratory of the Gritman Medical Center and in the medical imaging waiting room in Moscow may have been exposed to the virus in the afternoon of 31 May.

Hospital officials said the patient was isolated once the measles symptoms had been detected and some areas of the hospital had been disinfected.

Officials say people who think they have measles should stay home and contact their health care provider.

The service informs patients who may have been exposed.

The last case of measles in the state was recorded in 2001.
