Health officials warn of possible exposure to measles in LAX

Health officials in Los Angeles County are warning the public about another case of measles involving a resident who has traveled through Los Angeles International Airport.

The person traveled and contracted measles on his return, according to a press release from the County Health Department.

Health officials warned of possible exposure for people at LAX Terminal 5 on September 20th from 11pm. on September 21st at 1:30

The traveler was also at the parking place – Century Airport Shuttle on September 20th at 11:20 pm. on September 21st at 1:50 am

Anyone who was in this area at that time may be at risk of getting measles, with symptoms appearing up to 21 days after exposure.

Health officials remind the public to check their vaccination records and monitor themselves for symptoms. If symptoms occur, such as unexplained fever or rash, patients should remain

at home and immediately contact a health care provider.

There have been 17 cases of measles among Los Angeles County residents this year and 11 cases of non-residents who have crossed the region, with the exception of Long Beach and Pasadena.
