HEB is preparing to open appointments for phase 1B to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, people in phase 1B will soon be able to make an appointment to receive the vaccine at an HEB pharmacy.

“HEB has requested another vaccine allocation from the state of Texas,” the grocer said in a Jan. 11 press release. “Our initial allocation has already been distributed or is scheduled to be administered. We are awaiting another vaccine allocation from the state of Texas so that we can continue to vaccinate healthcare providers and begin offering vaccines to those in phase 1B.
HEB said he will activate his appointment scheduling tool once he receives a vaccine allowance. A firm date has not been set.
Administration of the Phase 1B vaccine to HEB includes people 65 years of age and older and those 16 years of age and older (or 18 years and older for Moderna vaccine) with chronic conditions that increase risk. Phase 1A includes frontline healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities.
An appointment must be made on vaccine.heb.com to receive the vaccine in an HEB pharmacy. Walk-in appointments are not accepted.
