The wife of Texas Senator Ted Cruz is said to have bragged about the couple’s upcoming trip to sunny Cancun, Mexico, amid the “FREEZING” weather ravaging the Lone Star State – and invited several neighbors to join them for their getaway.

The Republican lawmaker, who returned home Thursday amid outrage over his trip in the once-in-a-lifetime storm, claimed he was only chaperoning his daughters and their pals on the flight.

But leaked messages obtained by local news outlet Reform Austin reveal that his wife, Heidi, invited friends and neighbors for the getaway to the Ritz-Carlton, where she noted the price for a room was $ 309 plus taxes.

“Can or does anyone want to leave for the week?” We can go to Cancun, there are direct flights at 4:45 p.m. and hotels with capacity, ”she reportedly wrote early Wednesday, according to the outlet.

“Seriously. Covid test to come back that we’ll take there,” she added.

“Are you hot enough guys…. We have a fireplace! Let us know. Our house is ICE FREE, that’s why we stayed w… .. last night, we couldn’t take it anymore, ”said Heidi Cruz in the thread, which contained a few redacted words.

Reform Austin said he got the messages from a neighborhood group chat in River Oaks, the well-heeled neighborhood the senator lives in while in Houston.

Cruz, who was excoriated for the trip as his state recovered from the catastrophic weather, cut his trip to the Mexican resort by two days and returned on Thursday.

In a statement released earlier, he blamed his young daughters for the getaway, saying he only accompanied them to Mexico. After landing in the United States, he apologized for the deaf trip, but doubled down on his parenting skills.
