The US Food and Drug Administration announced on Saturday that the Henry Avocado Corporation was voluntarily recalling entire avocados grown in California because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
These products have been distributed in Arizona, California, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
The recalled products include conventional and organic avocados grown in California.
The FDA indicated that Henry Avocado contacted all affected customers to signal the recall and ensure that all products were immediately removed from the shelves.
The FDA has stated that no case of recall-related illness has been reported yet.

Henry Avocado organic products do not carry a "Bravocado" sticker; instead, they are labeled "organic" and carry a "California" sticker.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause fatal infections in young children, the elderly, or anyone with weakened immune systems. The FDA has stated that if a healthy individual ate a product containing Listeria monocytogenes, he or she may be suffering from short-term symptoms, such as headaches and severe, severe nausea.
