The nature of Clifford’s injury has not been disclosed. Clifford went to the locker room to get checked out after receiving a heavy blow from linebacker Jack Campbell in the second quarter. With Roberson in the game, the Lions were under-19 yards on their last three possessions before halftime.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have fired third baseman Joey Cora after five seasons in the role. The Pirates announced the move on Saturday, less than a week after finishing 61-101 and last in NL Central. Cora, 56, the older brother of Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora, has often been criticized by Pittsburgh fans for aggressively praising the runners. The Pirates have ranked among the major league leaders in strikeouts. Cora, a second baseman for most of his 11 years in the big leagues, has also worked with the Pittsburgh infielders. CINCINNATI (AP) – Kacper Przybylko and Paxten Aaronson, 18, scored to help the Philadelphia Union beat FC Cincinnati 2-1 on Saturday night. Matt Freese tied his career with five saves for the Union (12-7-9). Przybylko unleashed an upward shot from the center of the box to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in stoppage time in the first half. Aaronson managed an entry from 20-year-old Nathan Harriel to top the scoring in the 56th minute. Cincinnati (4-16-8) was eliminated from the playoffs. He has lost six in a row. Philadelphia is undefeated, with four wins, in its last five games.
LORETTO, Pa. (AP) – Justin Sliwoski pitched for three touchdowns and St. Francis (PA) used a 20-point second half to continue and beat Long Island 55-10. Alex Schmoke started the second with a 23-yard field goal and finished it with 35 yards at the end of the time limit. Between the two, Marques DeShields crashed a yard and Kahtero Summers caught a one yard pass from Silwoski for a 27-3 lead at the break. Shemar Paul scored on a 6-yard rush for Long Island’s lone touchdown.
