The Trump campaign presented the public with a cornucopia of false new allegations of electoral fraud on Thursday, including one that appeared to have its roots in a 2016 plot involving a perpetual GOP boogeyman. George soros.

Chavez died in 2013, which seems to be strong proof that he did not play an active role in any election seven years later. But the Chavez-Soros link has become a surprisingly flourishing scenario as Trump’s legal team scrambles to prove Biden’s election was illegitimate.
To understand where the attention to Venezuela is coming from, you must realize that the Trump campaign and their allies have become obsessed with Dominion Voting Systems’ voting machines. In the days following the election, Trump and his supporters insisted that almost huge slices of Trump votes in Georgia and Michigan had been transferred to Biden – often citing only evidence posted on the pro forum. In reality, however, the machines were only used in a handful of affected countries and had not changed voices.
With the demise of that claim, Powell and Trump’s internet base became obsessed with an entirely different voting company: Smartmatic. In a Nov. 13 appearance on Fox Business, Powell vowed to “post the kraken” on both companies, a term that has been adopted to the right as a preparation proving widespread electoral fraud.
It’s hard to stress enough how wild the MAGA Internet has gone to “unleash the kraken”. At the “Million MAGA March” in Washington last weekend, I saw people chanting “Free the Kraken!” and holding kraken themed signs. The Trump forums were inundated with images of Powell smiling next to a kraken.
But there was also doubt that Trump’s supporters were not hobbled again. On 4Chan and TheDonald.Win, a handful of posters began to question whether Powell should just publish his supposed fraud proof rather than pass it off with catchy phrases.
This week, Powell finally made an offering and he quickly sank to the bottom of the sea. Tuesday, Allied Lawyer Lin wood released “the kraken” – a heavily redacted affidavit from an anonymous former Venezuelan military official who saw Chavez playing many years ago with an allegedly rigged Smartmatic machine.
“This is an amazing and detailed affidavit as he was with Hugo Chavez while he was briefed on its operation. He was with Hugo Chavez when he saw him operate. He made the election run as it should, ”Powell said Thursday.
Powell also claimed that Soros controlled the voting machines, as the former Datamatic chairman is also a board member of a Soros foundation. – a striking echo of a claim that appeared in The Daily Caller ahead of the 2016 election.
Even if you buy these vague claims, Venezuela is a different country from the United States. And Smartmatic and Dominion are different companies.
To fill these gaps, Powell focused on the fact that Dominion bought a company called Sequoia Voting Systems from Smartmatic in 2010. The implication is that, somehow, Smartmatic installed its Hugo code. Chavez in the Sequoia machines, which then infected the Dominion owner. systems with this crazy election theft ten years later.
Oddly enough, Powell turned these claims into a broader attack on the US election. She said any Republican who lost less than six percent of the vote should not concede, with the implication that they were likely cheated by voter fraud machines. At Thursday’s press conference, Powell said that “the Republican or Democratic candidates” may have given money to the Dominion and Smartmatic to “make the system work for them.”
