None of the eight counties with mandates – San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Sonoma – yet meet the requirements. Most should not reach all measurements for at least two months.
Once the warrants are lifted, fully vaccinated people will be allowed to enter public indoor spaces without masks. Unvaccinated people should always wear masks.
Here is an overview of the criteria and the position of each county.
To once again allow fully vaccinated people to reenter indoors without a mask, a county must be at the yellow “moderate” community transmission level for three weeks, as defined by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Level status is determined by case rates and rates of positive tests – the rate of cases for the yellow level ranging from 10 to 49.99 per 100,000 people in the past seven days and the rate of positive tests ranging from 5% to 7.99%.
The hospitalization rate should also remain low, determined by local health services.
Finally, 80% of the total county population must be fully vaccinated. Alternatively, if the 80% immunization threshold has not been met, a county can lift the warrant eight weeks after a COVID vaccine is authorized for emergency use for children aged 5 to 11.
Here is the latest data as of Thursday for each county for coronavirus case rates, positive test rates, vaccination rates and hospitalizations. The data was compiled from Chronicle research, using figures from the CDC, California Department of Public Health, county, and the census.
San Francisco
Case rate: 77.02 per 100,000, new cases weekly in the last seven days. Positive test rate: 1.81%. Vaccination rate: 75% of the total population fully vaccinated. Hospitalization rate: 7.2 per 100,000
Alameda
Case rate: 68.27. Positive test rate: 1.66%. Vaccination rate: 66%. Hospitalization rate: 6.2 per 100,000
Against Coast
Case rate: 89.55. Positive test rate: 2.51%. Vaccination rate: 71%. Hospitalization rate: 6.4 per 100,000
Marine
Case rate: 62.59. Positive test rate: 1.77%. Vaccination rate: 80%. Hospitalization rate: 4.2 per 100,000
Napa
Case rate: 112.53. Positive test rate: 2.78%. Vaccination rate: 68%. Hospitalization rate: 10.9 per 100,000
Saint Matthew
Case rate: 61.44. Positive test rate: 1.25%. Vaccination rate: 74%. Hospitalization rate: 2.7 per 100,000
Saint Clare
Case rate: 54.56. Positive test rate: 1.22%. Vaccination rate: 72%. Hospitalization rate: 5.1 per 100,000
Sonoma
