Here’s a full rundown of Thursday’s Week 9 high school football action across the state.
Region 1
Weber 35, Davis 9
Weber’s offense exploded for three touchdowns in the third quarter, leading them to a road victory over the Darts. The Warriors used a variety of offensive weapons as the five touchdowns were scored by different players. Weber remains undefeated in Region 1, they will host Fremont to end their season.
“I’m really proud of our kids and our coaches. I love the way they continuously play the game with passion and energy. Aidan Carter ramped up and handled the game perfectly. Logan Payne and Cannon DeVries also performed wonderfully. Our defense played its best game to date. It was a great team effort and I’m proud of our guys.

Syracuse 19, Layton 14
After struggling back and forth in the first half, it was Syracuse’s defense that intensified in the second half as the Titans clinched a home victory. First, they secured a safety midway through the third quarter to extend their lead to two possessions. It didn’t matter though, as they were also able to eliminate their opponent until the last three seconds of the second half on their way to victory in Region 1.

Farmington 21, Fremont 7
Kenyon Brown found the end zone, then Easton White scored Mitch Nielsen with seconds left in the first half to help Farmington take a 14-0 lead. Their defense would continue to dominate in the second half, allowing only David Calver and Fremont’s offense.
Region 2
Roy 50, Granger 20
Roy dominated their way to a victory over the Lancers behind a massive performance from Kobe Bennett, who has three rushing scores for the Royals. Roy improves to 4-1 in Region 2 play ahead of their season finale against Taylorsville.
Region 4
Lone Peak 41, Corner Canyon 16
Lone Peak beat Corner Canyon 28-6 in the second half as he emphatically walked away for the region’s victory and broke the Chargers’ state record of 48 consecutive wins. Jaxson Willits and Luke Durfey both ran for a pair of touchdowns to clear the way offensively for the Knights, who scored just nine points in a 14-9 loss to Skyridge the week before. The loss is Corner Canyon’s first since the 5A semifinals in 2017, when current New York Jets quarterback Zack Wilson still led the offense.
American fork 41, Westlake 0
Maddux Madsen hit five touchdowns, hooking up to Fisher Ingersoll twice, then rushing for another to lead the Cavemen in the shutout victory over Westlake.
“Great team victory tonight. The defense was really down and gave us some short pitches in the first half that we were able to capitalize on. Spencer Clegg was really flying in defense and managed a few sacks in a timely manner. Offensively, Maddux was able to hit many different targets and push us forward on the pitch. ”

Skyridge 31, Pleasant Grove 0
Skyridge took a 24-0 halftime lead and beat the Vikings in white mode. McCaae Hillstead threw two touchdown passes to Jack Hadfield, then broke free later on a 71-yard touchdown run to extend the Falcons’ lead before halftime. The win puts Skyridge tied at three for the top of the Region 4 standings heading into the final week.
Region 6
Olympe 10, Highland 7
In a hotly contested defensive game in Region 6, Josh Peterson scored on a two-yard TD early in the fourth quarter that turned out to be the decisive TD for the Titans who held on for the win. Highland took the lead late in the third quarter on a 2-yard pass from Ashton Zwick to Elijah Tolbert.
East 62, Murray 27
Amini Amone rushed for three touchdowns, one of six rushing touchdowns for the Leopards, who passed Murray for the win in the region. East took a 30-7 lead midway through the second quarter, but the Spartans responded with two assists from Kyler Nielsen TD to reduce the deficit to 30-21. Amone extended the lead again on a 55-yard touchdown just before halftime and East never looked back.
Region 7
Cedar Valley 27, mountain view 14
Cooper Thomson threw touchdown passes to Taygen Hansen and Noah Burnham in the first half, then Easton Schank added a pair of second-half ground scores as the Aviators moved away from Mountain View for the win in the region.

Timpanogos 48, Tooele 34
Timpanogos picked up a big home win over the Buffaloes after five touchdowns from Matu Holdaway. The victory pushes the Timberwolves to 5-1 in Region 7. They will end their season next week against Stansbury who is still undefeated in the Region.
“Super proud of the way the boys responded at halftime. Take a 7 point lead and go 28 in the 4th quarter. The boys executed the in-game adjustments Coach Anderson and Haymore made to their respective sides of the ball.

Region 8
Timpview 28, Lehi 14
Timpview beat the Pioneers in a battle to determine the Region 8 champion. Micah Beckstead and Tei Nacua scored early touchdowns to give the Thunderbirds an early lead, but Jackson Brousseau would connect with Jaxon Christensen for two third quarter goals for equalize the match. Later in the period, Liu Aumavae would throw his second touchdown of the game before scoring on the ground to help his team secure the victory. Timpview will face Jordan to close his schedule with a chance to finish undefeated in the regional game.
“We came by thinking that Lehi is one of the best teams in 5A for sure. Also (this win) was for the regional title, so it’s good for our kids. I think our children have overcome adversity. I think the penalties were 22 to eight; a little hard to believe. We just played through that, and we came out with a win. When we had to score, we scored.

Alta 58, Jordan 24
Ethan Jackson landed three touchdowns and rushed for two more, then Anson Jaramillo added three more ground scores as Alta jumped all over Jordan en route to victory in the rebound region against the loss to Lehi la last week.
Region 9
Spanish Fork 41, Maple Mountain 13
Spanish Fork won at least a share of the Region 9 title with a road victory over Maple Mountain. Six different Dons scored a touchdown as a spreading offense helped the offense score a ton of points on the board. Provo and Springville also suffered just one regional loss and will be tied with Spanish Fork atop the standings in their Friday games.
3A North
Grantsville 39, Union 0
Grantsville shut out Union after a dominant 29-0 second half. Caleb Sullivan threw two touchdown passes and Seth Richardson returned a 75-yard blocked kick for a key first-half score.
“Special teams were important to us tonight by scoring 19 points on a scoop and a score, a blocked field goal, a false punt, a field and 4 PAT. Defense dominated again and offense controlled time.

Morgan 33, Ogden 7
Tate Nelson landed a touchdown and rushed for two more as Morgan passed area foe Ogden for the win in a game that was called off after a staggering delay with 2:30 left in the third quarter.
Juan Diego 49 years old, Ben Lomond 13 years old
The Soaring Eagle took a 42-7 lead at halftime and never looked back en route to the big win over Ben Lomond. Dallas Larson and Michael Huverson each rushed for two goals in Juan Diego’s victory.
“Our boys came out on fire tonight scoring 21 points in each of the first quarters. Our starting defense was not marked and made some big turnovers. I am very proud of this team and especially of our seniors. And hats off to Ben Lomond because they kept fighting and never gave up.

2A North
Sommet Sud 49, Memorial of Judge 0
Kyler Sudweeks had another huge game for South Summit as he participated in six of South Summit’s seven touchdowns in the lopsided victory over Judge. Sudweeks had four touchdowns (two each for Ricky Perez and Calaby Thompson) and rushed for two more to lead the win.
“The boys played well tonight. Glad we did it without any lightning delays. The judge surprised us with their change of offense. Our defense made some adjustments and the response was good. We have a few more players to get healthy and we should be full. The Wildcats come together and peak at the right time. ”

Non-region
Brighton 49, Clearfield 3
Jack Johnson threw four touchdowns, including three to Dante McMaster, as Brighton jumped on Clearfield for the out-of-region victory. The game fell behind schedule late with 7:47 left in the third quarter and never resumed.
