As Jadon Phillips prepared to finish high school and begin his college career, the unthinkable happened: The 17-year-old from Delran High School in New Jersey was diagnosed with a brain tumor after being found insensitive on Christmas morning. Eve last year, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up on her behalf.
“It was the day that the life of Jadon and his family took a new direction,” says a description on the donation pages. “Jadon was rushed to hospital that day, and it was discovered that he had blood on his brain and needed emergency surgery. [Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia] for 35 nights. “
Phillips underwent surgery to remove the tumor on March 3 and entered physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy shortly thereafter. While the family had hoped to move forward after the operation, tests revealed her tumor to be cancerous.
“Three weeks later, the tumor came back,” the GoFundMe page said. “Jadon was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer. As a result of all of this, the family’s faith in God has not weakened and they believe in Him for the healing of Jadon.”

According to the National Brain Tumor Society, only 6% of all brain tumors occur in the pediatric population, making them rare for people under the age of 19. The organization estimates that there will be 4,630 new cases of pediatric brain tumors in the United States by the end of 2021.

Phillips’ mother, Caisse Gore, now cares for her son “around the clock,” she told WPVI. She said he was planning to go to the ball this year, but today illness prevented him from walking.
The campaign raised over $ 80,000 on Thursday afternoon, exceeding its initial goal of $ 75,000.

“Jadon is known to his friends and family as being persistent, willful, loving and sensitive,” GoFundMe organizers said of Phillips. “He enjoys spending time with his parents and siblings.”
In a video posted to YouTube on Wednesday, Phillips thanked everyone who donated to help the family pay their medical bills.
“Thank you everyone, for your love and support, we really appreciate it and that means so much,” he said, “We’re just going to keep working on this thing – let’s go.”
