The coronavirus is no joke – and, tragically, some people find out the hard way.
Stephane Harmon, a member of Song of the Hills church known for its viral anti-vaccine tweets, died Wednesday of COVID-19 after a month-long battle with the virus and pneumonia. He was only 34 years old.
It’s important to note that while it was also battling pneumonia, COVID notoriously acts as a match for other illnesses, making them even worse. A lot of people have died just with COVID, and a lot of people have died with COVID and other diseases present, but ultimately COVID is the cause.
The pastor of the mega-church, Brian houston, confirmed Harmon’s death and its cause Twitter, after hearing from his son Ben houston, writing:
“Ben has just passed on the devastating news to us that our beloved friend, Stephen Harmon, has passed away from Covid. Heartbreaking.”
The Los Angeles native was a Hillsong College graduate who spent weeks posting – and joking – about the coronavirus vaccine, even until his last breath. He tweeted on June 3, less than two months before his death:
“If you’re having email problems, I feel bad for you, son.” I have 99 problems but a vax is not.

It is not known whether Stephen’s views derive from the beliefs of his religious organization, but they certainly do not go against them. Hillsong Youtube The channel currently includes a video discussing the pros and cons of the vaccine, essentially telling subscribers that it’s up to them to decide.
We do be aware that the main congregation in Australia is strongly opposed to the lockdown on religious activities, even another quarantine is needed – so like the mega-churches here in the US, we assume they are risking the lives of their flock well? ?
Stephen’s take on the vaccine was incredibly clear. While he didn’t want to be called an anti-vaxxer – he described himself as “pro information” – he was clearly against the pressure to get people vaccinated. Even though his condition was rapidly worsening in hospital, his controversial views on the global pandemic were unwavering. Use Twitter and Instagram to connect with a group of 7,000 people, the writer shared in early July:
“Biden’s door-to-door vaccine investigators should really call themselves JaCovid witnesses. #keepmovingdork.
He also targeted Dr Anthony Fauci by downloading a meme (below) with the caption:
“When you cannot trust the Bible because it was written by man, but you trust the CDC/ The Fauci directives because they were written by man. It is quite logical”

What does not make sense is to believe that science and faith cannot coexist! We mean, the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases is Catholic – and he trusts God and vaccines at the same time! It’s not like Christians have a rule against dressing wounds or anything like that.
In June, Harmon continued his speech by poking fun at the vaccinated individuals, saying:
“Since everyone is a social construct these days and people here identify as different races than they were born to (Rachel Dolezal now Nkechi Amare Diallo) I have decided that I now identify as a 6-3 D1 collegiate athlete. And, if you prefer, I will also identify myself as vaccinated.
Ugh. It’s so frustrating to see someone act so casually about a very real and deadly disease that is killing thousands of people around the world … especially knowing that the very thing they were laughing at would soon be theirs. cost life.
It is not known when Stephen contracted COVID, but it is frightening to see that even until his last moments he was strongly opposed to taking basic precautionary measures against the virus.
A few days before his death, he informed his relatives, revealing that he had been placed “under maximum oxygen” and that he “had difficulty functioning”. He asked for prayers as he determined whether or not to use a ventilator, explaining:
“Please all pray, they really want to intubate me and put me on a ventilator. even the slightest movements and my heart rate skyrockets and my oxygen dependence increases. and please i don’t ask anyone’s opinion on intubation, i will make my own choice, i ask for prayer.
He later added:
“If you don’t have faith that God can heal me with your stupid ventilator, then keep the hell out of my intensive care room, there is no room here for fear or lack of faith ! »#ThingsIAmAboutToScream.

In the end, he decided to seek help from the ventilator, but the decision came too late. In his last tweet, he expressed:
“I choose to undergo intubation, I fought this thing as hard as I could, but unfortunately it has reached a critical point of choice and although I hate having to do this, I prefer it to be willpower. rather than a forced emergency procedure I don’t know when I’m going to wake up, please pray.
So sad…
We think of Harmon’s family and friends in light of this devastating loss. We especially hope that this will serve as a motivation for those who are still undecided about getting vaccinated, regardless of your religious beliefs. Not because it’s about ‘winning’ or political camps or being anti-religious – we just want everyone to be safe.
