Hospitalizations in Iowa now under 400

For Black Hawk and Linn counties, we are reporting numbers from their county COVID-19 websites. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are reporting numbers from the state website.

IOWA

(KWWL) – There were 847 new confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the state dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 312,811.

The state’s website says that of the 312,811 people who tested positive, 274,104 have recovered. That’s 915 more recoveries than the state reported on Saturday.

The state’s death toll stands at 4,488, one more than what was reported on Saturday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (274,104) and the number of deaths (4,488) from the total number of cases (312,811), there are currently 34,219 active positive cases in the state.

At 10 a.m. as of Sunday morning, 51 patients were hospitalized in Iowa in the past 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 384, up from 419 yesterday. Among these hospitalizations, 79 are in intensive care (against 76 yesterday) and 36 are on ventilators (against 38 yesterday).

In Iowa, 2,751 new tests have been done in the past 24 hours and a total of 1,447,213 people have been tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate for the last 24 hours (847 positive tests divided by 2,751 tests given) is 30.8%.

According to the state’s latest vaccine report released Friday, 167,961 total doses have been administered to residents of Iowa and more than 26,463 have completed the series. On Friday, 6,648 residents of Black Hawk County, 13,188 residents of Linn County, 15,045 residents of Johnson County and 6,339 residents of Dubuque County received the vaccine. See the report for more data. Iowa is currently in Phase 1a of vaccine deployment, which means doses are being distributed to health workers and residents and staff in long-term care facilities. Phase 1b is scheduled to start on February 1.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

Sunday at 10 a.m. Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard shows 48 new cases since 10 a.m. Saturday, leaving a total of 14,970 cases (14,079 cases positive for PCR and antigen and 891 positive cases for serology). There are 22 other recoveries for a total of 12,585 recoveries. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 243 deaths. The 14-day average positivity rate for the county is 10.6%.

LINN COUNTY

Sunday at 10 a.m. Linn County COVID-19 Dashboard shows 60 new cases since 10 a.m. Saturday, leaving a total of 18,049 cases. There were 14 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 15,635 recoveries. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 251 deaths. There are currently 27 hospital patients in the county. The county’s 14-day average positivity rate is 8%.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to state dashboard At 10 a.m. on Sunday, 36 new positive cases have been reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Saturday. This brings the total to 12,287 reported cases. There were a total of 10,771 recoveries, including 50 more than yesterday. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 52 deaths. The county’s 14-day average positivity rate is 10%.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to state dashboard As of 10 a.m. Sunday, another 60 positive cases have been reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Saturday. This brings the total to 11,623 reported cases. There were 26 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 10,378. No additional deaths were reported, leaving a total of 159 deaths. The county’s 14-day average positivity rate is 10%.
