Dr. Nicholas Bennet of Connecticut Children's Medical Center said that this could affect your heart rate and even slow it down.
"You can have paralysis of the facial nerve and this can affect other nerves, this can give you crazy and nasty headaches, and if it is not treated long enough, it can evolve into recurrent chronic arthritis, "said Dr. Bennet.
To protect yourself, put on your socks, wear DEET or mosquito repellent and check for ticks after being in the woods.
