Four children are among six people taken to hospital on Monday on suspicion of carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Cy-Fair Fire Department.

The fire department said a family in an apartment complex in the 8500 block of Easton Commons Drive tried to heat their unit with a charcoal grill.

The conditions of those involved were not immediately disclosed.

In the aftermath of the incident, firefighters are reminding people of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, especially as the area increasingly plunges into extremely cold temperatures.

“Remember to never heat your house with a grill or an oven,” the firefighters tweeted. “Remember to never run a generator or grill inside your home. They produce carbon monoxide, which is a deadly, colorless, odorless gas.”
