Messenger RNA vaccines
How the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine works
The vaccine, known as Comirnaty, has been approved or licensed for emergency use in several countries, including the United States. Clinical trials have shown that the vaccine is 95% effective.
How Moderna’s vaccine works
The vaccine, known as MRNA-1273, has been approved in Canada and cleared for emergency use in the United States. Clinical trials have shown the vaccine to be 94.5% effective.

How the Sinopharm vaccine works
The vaccine, known as BBIBP-CorV, is licensed for limited use in China. Sinopharm claims that the vaccine has an efficacy rate of 79.34%.

The vaccine, known as Covaxin, is cleared for emergency use in India, despite the absence of published Phase 3 trial results. The effectiveness of the vaccine is not yet known.
