The Pink Moon will shine in the night sky around the globe at the end of the week, but the full moon may not appear, as its name suggests.
This month's full moon will rise on Thursday night and will be visible everywhere in the world, weather permitting. It will be officially 100% full at 4:12 pm PDT on Friday. People who miss Pink Moon on Thursday night will be able to reach it Friday night, because they always seem full.
Every month of the full moon has a nickname that can often be attributed to Native Americans or European colonials.
"The Full Moon of April is called the Full Pink Moon, heralding the appearance of the" moss rose ", or wild land phlox, one of the first spring blossoms, reported Old Farmer's Almanac.

Despite his nickname, the coming full moon will not appear in pink. However, the moon can sometimes appear yellow, orange or even red depending on atmospheric conditions just as it peeks over the horizon.
It is also at this time that the moon appears the greatest because of an optical illusion, sometimes called moon illusion.
Other names for the April full moon include the moon to sprout, the moon to eggs and the moon to fish.
Spectators can search for the full moon in the east of the sky Thursday night just before sunset, local time. The moon will rise in the same area on Friday night; however, it will do so shortly after sundown, local time.
Once night falls, astronomers can look to the western sky to see the constellation Orion. This will be one of the last opportunities to see the well-known constellation until the end of summer or early fall, as it is on the opposite side of the sun during the weeks surrounding the summer solstice, to be held on Friday, June 21, 2019.
Some shooting stars can also cross the sky while the Pink Moon rises a few nights before the peak of the meteor shower Lyrid, the first major meteor shower since January.
The next full moon will rise on May 18, 2019.
