The NBA post-season is here. The Clippers are big underdogs against the Warriors. Can they perform a miracle? Who will advance to the East?
Our experts – Preston Johnson, Jordan Schultz and Doug Kezirian – are here to help, giving their best results for the first round of the playoffs.
Note: All odds are via Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook and DraftKings starting April 12.
Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets (+425) vs Philadelphia 76ers (-600)
Kezirian: On paper, this is a one-sided series that separates a legitimate candidate at the conference from a team that has taken a giant step and needs this appearance in the playoffs. However, Joel Embiid is a major question mark and may not even play the first game. That gives me a break before giving Philly a five-game "gentleman sweep". In addition, the new starting lineup of the Sixers played only a total of 10 games. If the Nets reach their 3 and do not rely too much on Angelo Russell, this series could become vicious.
To choose: Nets +2.5 games (+140)
Johnson: The health of Joel Embiid is an obvious concern, but what impact would it have on Embiid missing games or limited minutes? This season, with Embiid, the Sixers have a net score of -5.5 points for 100 possessions. This ranks the 27th percentile in the entire league.
