How to change the terrible keyboard on your Galaxy S10

Let's be honest: Samsung's default keyboard on the Galaxy S10 is not good. The tactile response just seems off. The prediction of words and phrases is horrible. It has many customization options, and that's about it. Fortunately, Android offers everyone the opportunity to choose the keyboard that suits him, without compromise. When Samsung's keyboard starts bumping you to the point of wanting something new, here's how you can go – and how to recommend the keyboard to choose.

Choose a new keyboard

If you really want to get started, there are hundreds of keyboard options on Google Play. You could spend hours and hours doing research, but if you want to get to the bottom of things, we strongly recommend that you start with one of our favorites.

The Google Gboard and SwiftKey, always present, are excellent starting points used and appreciated by millions of people. Critically, they are both well ahead of Samsung's own keyboard. And they are both free!

Install one of these suggested keyboards or another that you find in the Play Store, and you'll be ready to change.

How to change the keyboard on the Galaxy S10

1. Install your replacement keyboard of choice.

   • It will automatically become available in your settings, even if no application icon is associated with it.

   

2. Open your settings and scroll down to General direction.
3. Press on Language and entry so what Default keyboard.
4. Select the new keyboard that you would like to use by tapping on it in the list.
   • Your new keyboard choice will now be displayed whenever a keyboard is required in the system – the default keyboard will never appear.

Now that you have set a new default keyboard, you need to know some additional information about keyboards on Android.

When you install most third-party keyboards, they contain additional settings that you can use to change the appearance and actions of the keyboard. Sometimes this comes in the form of an "application" in the application drawer that you can press to access the settings. You can usually access these settings quickly from the keyboard itself – there will often be a settings icon that will go directly to the same place. If all else fails, return to the "Language and Input" settings of the keyboard settings.

You can have multiple keyboards installed at a time! Only one can be set as the default, but you can keep several installed if you are still on the hedge of the one you prefer. If you need to change your keyboard regularly, you will see by default a small keyboard selection button in the navigation bar whenever a keyboard is open. Just tap on it to quickly switch from one keyboard to another. All configuration options remain in place.
