“The health service is currently focused on providing vaccines to first responders and health care providers with direct responsibilities for patient care in private clinics,” county health officials said on Twitter.

But some of those people in the eligible category who received private links to sign up for a vaccination continued to share their links with family members, friends and colleagues who tried to make appointments for. themselves.
“These unauthorized appointments take a critical place as a first responder or frontline health worker,” Howard County health officials said.
Officials said people who had received a registration link from a friend or colleague, instead of receiving a notification from the Howard County Health Department, should not register because it would be a waste of time.
“Your appointment will not be honored,” the health department warned, saying unauthorized appointments are slowing the overall vaccine distribution effort.
According to the latest figures from the Maryland Department of Health, approximately 42,000 people have received the vaccine statewide so far. That’s less than 1% of the state’s population.
