Rahul Sandil, former chief marketing officer of HTC Vive's virtual reality division, joins Micron Technology, where he will assume the role of Global Marketing Manager for the Consumer Products Group (CPG).

Sandil previously held the position of vice president of marketing at HTC Vive for Viveport, Vive Studios and the new platforms, according to his LinkedIn page, which was updated today with Micron's new position.

At Micron, Sandil will be marketing the Micron family of memory chip solutions under the consumer brands Crucial and Ballistix. Crucial is a brand of storage and computer memory products created 15 years ago. These products are used in millions of desktops, laptops, servers and workstations. Ballistix is for PC players. Sandil will lead a global team of branding, digital marketing, channel marketing, e-commerce and e-commerce marketers in existing markets, as well as driving the brand's growth into new international markets.

Sandil was at HTC for three years. In 2016, the company launched its HTC Vive virtual reality headsets. He has been involved in managing the Viveport global app store for HTC Vive's virtual reality applications. This decision comes at an interesting time, as HTC continues to fight its rival Oculus, who has a much larger amount of money to spend with his Oculus Quest, Oculus Go and Oculus Rift VR headsets.
