According to Huawei, the United States has asked the security forces to "threaten, threaten, coerce, attract and induce" current and former Huawei employees. Huawei says the United States illegally searched, detained and arrested Huawei's staff; sent FBI agents to the employees' homes; unearthed from old settled civil cases; and committed various other wrongdoings. An anonymous source said The Wall Street Journalat least three employees of the US Huawei office were contacted by US law enforcement this year. But as the WSJ points out that it is not uncommon for FBI agents to visit current and former employees of a company under investigation. In addition to national security concerns, the United States is reported to be investigating new allegations of intellectual property theft.
Huawei's accusations were made in a somewhat independent press release, which sought to rebut separate charges that Huawei had infringed a patent. At the end of last month, the WSJ reported that the US Department of Justice had investigated Huawei over allegations that he had stolen a patented intellectual property in the United States. In its press release issued today, Huawei said the allegations were false.
"We strongly condemn the malicious and concerted efforts by the US government to discredit Huawei and limit its leadership position in the industry," wrote Huawei. The company has repeatedly denied the charges brought by the Trump government, which said Huawei was at the mercy of Chinese government officials. But this is the first time since the US Huawei blacklist that the company publishes its own list of charges.
Huawei's allegations, as they appear in the press release, are reproduced below:
