Hurricane Dorian: The latest photos and videos show considerable damage to the Bahamas

Hurricane Dorian continues to hit Grand Bahama Island as it slowly turns to the United States.

As of Sunday night, Dorian is located about 40 km northeast of the Freeport Grand Bahama Island, about 105 km west of Palm Beach, Florida. The storm, now Category 4, has maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.

Photos and videos from the Bahamas show the considerable damage caused by the floods. At least five deaths have been attributed to the storm.

Dorian is expected to head north-west by Tuesday night, moving closer to the east coast of Florida from Tuesday to Wednesday night before heading from Wednesday night to Thursday to the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina.

A hurricane warning is in effect for Grand Bahama and the Abacos Islands in northwestern Bahamas and Jupiter Inlet, Florida, up to the beach at Ponte Vedra, Florida. Hurricane surveillance is in effect for Deerfield Beach, Florida, to Jupiter Inlet, Florida, north of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, to South Sanatee River, South Carolina.

Storm warnings are in place from Lantana (Florida) to Altamaha Sound (Georgia), monitored by a storm surge north of Deerfield Beach (Florida) south of Lantana (Florida) and Altamaha Sound (Georgia) in South Santee River, South Carolina.

Nearly one million residents of the coast were evacuated before the storm.
