Hurricane Dorian: What travelers need to know

Here's what we know about how the hurricane can affect travel.

Southwest allows travelers to visit the Florida destinations of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Nassau, Bahamas, to "re-book class of service or travel reserve within 14 days of travel date" at no additional cost.

American waives the cost of changing scheduled flights via September 3rd to and through the Florida destinations of Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Key West, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota / Bradenton, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach. Exemptions are also offered for flights to Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Martinique.

Delta is waiving change fees for scheduled flights until August 31st, to and from Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as Marsh Harbor and Georgetown in the Bahamas.

The airline also removes change fees for people traveling to and from Fort Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Valdosta and West Palm. Beach until the 4th of September.

Spirit removes the cost of changing scheduled flights until August 30th from or to Aguadilla and San Juan, Puerto Rico; Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Santiago in the Dominican Republic; and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Flight expenses to or from Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa until September 3rd are also removed.
