Joe Rogan has tested positive for the coronavirus, he announced in an Instagram video on Wednesday. “I got back from the road on Saturday night and felt very tired. I had a headache and just felt exhausted,” he said in the video.
The 54-year-old comedian isolated himself from his family and started having “fever and sweats” that night, he said. Rogan tested positive for COVID the next morning and started taking several medications, including monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-Pak and prednisone, he said. He also took an infusion of NAD and an infusion of vitamin D.
“I did it three days in a row,” he said. “And here we are Wednesday, and I feel good. I only really had one bad day – lousy Sunday.”
Ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug commonly used in livestock, is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration to prevent or treat COVID. The FDA and CDC have warned against taking the drug in such cases – adding that there has been a slight increase in calls for poison centers across the United States by people who ingested it. Disinformation and unsubstantiated claims touting the drug have spread widely on social media.
There is only three vaccines FDA approved to prevent COVID-19: Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
Rogan also announced that he was postponing a show he had scheduled for Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The new date for the show is October 24.
