No more portable projectors, please!
I am a a little aberrant here at Gizmodo when it comes to projectors. I love them and I’m especially addicted to portable projectors that can take you from room to room depending on where you want to broadcast something. Sure, a nice 65-inch OLED is great for watching premium videos, but what about just lounging and watching where you feel right at home in your home? So a portable projector with a decent speaker and wireless solution? And is it the size of a cup of coffee? Asus, consider me intrigued.
The company this week announced its new ZenBeam Latte L1 projector as part of its CES product line. The cup-sized device works as a projector and bluetooth speaker, which means you can stream music or podcasts from it as well. It is equipped with Aptoide TV to access streaming applications and supports screen mirroring for streaming from your phone. And the company claims that this compact projector throws up to 300 lumens and can project an image 40 to 120 inches, so just as big if not bigger than your TV.
As a bluetooth speaker, Asus says the Latte can last up to 12 hours on a single charge. As a projector, you watch for up to three hours on battery alone. But it’s definitely long enough to catch an episode of your favorite show or even a movie with normal runtime.
What I love about this projector, however, while battery life for serious streaming isn’t its strongest selling point, is that it’s compact enough to grab and hold. go everywhere. Heck, you can throw it in a backpack for a socially distant movie night in the backyard. But it will also fit into smaller spaces like a bookshelf or bookcase without you having to move a bunch of items to fit it.

Pricing and the exact release date are unclear at this time, but we’ve reached out to Asus for more information. And you better believe I’ll be the first to catch one when it officially hits stores.
