HUDSON, Fla. (WFLA) – A food service employee at Hudson's ICON Gentlemen's Club was confirmed in possession of the hepatitis A virus last month, News Channel 8 reported.
The Florida Department of Health asked anyone who consumed food or beverages from the gentlemen's club from April 15 to April 23 to have also been exposed to the hepatitis A virus.
A vaccine is recommended to anyone who has eaten or drunk between April 24 and May 1 at the gentlemen's club
This is one of the many several cases in the Tampa Bay area as part of a joint investigation by the Florida Department of Health and the Hotel and Restaurant Division.
According to the CDC, hepatitis A is a "transmissible liver disease that can be prevented by a vaccine and caused by the hepatitis A virus." The disease is usually transmitted by "fecal-oral route" or by a person who consumes contaminated food or water.
The symptoms of hepatitis A include fatigue, lack of appetite, stomach pain, nausea and jaundice. According to the CDC, symptoms usually disappear within two months of infection.
