Washington DC – US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined Ben Domenech on Fox News in prime time to discuss the politicization of the DOJ and its letter urging President Joe Biden to dismiss Vice President Kamala Harris as “border czar.” See below for highlights and watch the full interview here.

On the politicization of the DOJ:

“First of all, it’s alarming. And second, hypocrite. This is alarming because this idea that, one way or another, if parents show up to a school board [meeting] complain, and if someone out there decides we don’t like their tone of voice, we don’t care how loud they talk or how often they show up, you can be reported. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which should focus on things like organized crime – things like drug traffickers, things like terrorism and others looking to harm this country – will now divert resources to investigate on parents because they yell too loudly or maybe even be rude at the school board hearing.

“And, [it’s] hypocritical. Very few senators, right-wing deputies, members of Congress too, who have not been harassed in their private life. Now, of course, you just interviewed Senator Paul, and he went through some pretty extreme situations. But I have personally brought people to my house when I’m there or not. They don’t respect if you are at home. I saw people there confronting my family at my house. We don’t make videos of them, but sometimes they do.

“I was here a few years ago when the Supreme Court hearings were going on, senators were chased down the elevators and down the hall. The way it was covered by a lot of people in the press was, “You get what you deserve, you deserve to be burnt out. And, in fact, you had Maxine Waters and others on TV basically saying, ‘If you see these people in public, yell at them. Don’t just be mean and rude to them. Try to intimidate them. [Democrats] normalized this behavior when it comes to leftist protesters, but then when a parent talks about a school board [meeting], they want to stick the FBI on them.

“This is crazy. If you had told me five years ago that this was going to happen, I would say there is no way something like this would happen.

“I don’t think it’s possible to have a security service for every member of Congress… You couldn’t afford it and couldn’t hire enough people to do it. It wouldn’t be practical. What’s going to happen here is something terrible is going to happen eventually, because we’ve basically normalized that behavior. Understand, this is hypocritical because the left says if you do it to someone on the right, they deserve it. If you do it to someone on the left or someone who comes off their agenda, you should be investigated. I never thought I would live to see the day this kind of thing happened in this country. But he is.”

On Rubio’s letter to President Biden urging him to fire Kamala Harris as “border czar”:

“Kamala Harris shouldn’t be the ‘border czar’. She does not do anything. If she is the one who manages this, they must find someone else … Just Haitian migrants, there are between 90 and 120,000 Haitian migrants, some of whom have been living in Chile or Ecuador for nearly 10 years, these countries have run out of jobs, and now they are looking to make the trip north. They are in various stages of transit. We are told that country after country and region [as a whole]. It’s just Haiti only. Not to mention 9 other places.

“If you talk to people at the border, to people who have crossed, they will all tell you the same thing: they expect to enter the United States, they expect to enter, they expect to be released into the United States. the wait for an asylum hearing that many have no intention of showing up for. And when they make the trip, they call home, they let others know, and that encourages more people to do the same.

“It’s an ongoing disaster. We will continue to see incidents like what we saw just two weeks ago. And my heart breaks for the people of Haiti and around the world, but no nation on Earth can have the open border that we essentially have now and just tell anyone who wants to come and introduce themselves. You can not do that. But that’s what this administration thinks they’re going to do. And if Kamala Harris is responsible for this, they have to find someone else, and fast. ”
