Idris Elba Suicide Squad 2 Role Playing Not Will Smith Deadshot

If you woke up today hoping a lot of news from James Gunn, The suicide brigadeyou hit the jackpot.

The biggest news comes from Variety. The trade reports that, despite the earlier belief that Idris Elba would assume the role of Will Smith's Deadshot in the film, this is not the case. Elba will play a new character and Deadshot will not appear in Gunn's movie.

The choice would have been made to allow even a very small possibility for Smith to bring back the character at a later time, since his decision not to be in the film was due to a schedule, not to a conflict of creation. We solicited the opinion of Warner Bros.

You may remember, Waller is the tough guy who created the original Suicide Squad. io9 was one of the first media to tell you that Gunn was making the jump to DC after being released from Marvel's The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He was first attached to the writing and possibly to the film, described as a reinvention rather than a sequel to the first film. However, the fact that there are characters coming back (Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is also a possibility, as well as Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang) means that it will be difficult for the new film not to have at least one link with the original.

Gunn will follow The suicide brigade with his newly appointed return to The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The suicide brigade 2 in theaters August 6, 2021.
