The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 resulting from a wedding in Abbeville and is urging everyone who attended to take precautions now, including getting tested.
The Department considers all participants in this marriage to be exposed to COVID-19 and urges them to take precautions, a statement said.
The wedding took place at L’Eglise on September 25, 2021. About 150 people attended. Several people who attended the wedding then developed symptoms and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Anyone who is not vaccinated should self-quarantine until October 9 * (14 days after exposure during the event) and watch for symptoms of COVID-19, including:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
- Tired
- Muscle or body pain
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
LDH recommends testing all participants, even those who are symptom-free and / or fully immunized.
