Illinois COVID Update Today: IL Reports 2,082 New Coronavirus Cases, 20 Deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois health officials reported 2,082 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 deaths on Tuesday.

The total number of cases in Illinois now stands at 1,150,170, with a total of 19,686 deaths, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past 24 hours, labs reported 55,705 samples for a total of 16,739,500.

As of Monday evening, 2,117 patients in Illinois were reportedly hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 497 patients were in intensive care and 240 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The statewide seven-day pre-test positivity from Feb. 2-8 is 4.0%.

A total of 1,638,125 doses of vaccine were delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago, with an additional 496,100 doses allocated to federal partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number administered in Illinois at 2,134,225.

The IDPH reports that a total of 1,417,156 doses of vaccine were administered, of which 216,522 were in long-term facilities. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered is 55,455.

The IDPH says vaccine distribution figures are reported in real time and vaccine delivery figures are late for up to 72 hours.

The city’s vaccination sites, which operate indoors, will remain open, as will the Lake County Fairgrounds mass vaccination site in Grayslake. Local officials said the need to frequently turn staff out of the cold could cause delays.

– Cook County: 1 man 40 years old, 1 woman 60 years old, 1 man 60 years old, 1 woman 70 years old, 2 men 70 years old, 1 man 80 years old
– Edwards County; 1 70s man

– County of LaSalle: 1 woman 70 years old, 1 man 70 years old, 1 woman 90 years old
– Madison County: 1 man from the 80s
– McDonough County: 1 man from the 1980s
– McHenry County: 2 men from the 1970s
– McLean County: 1 woman from the 1980s
– Monroe County: 1 man from the 90s
– County of St. Clair: 1 male from the 1970s
– County of Winnebago: 1 woman from the 90s
