Illinois COVID update today: IT reports 3,561 cases, 39 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois Department of Public Health officials on Wednesday reported 3,561 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 39 related deaths.

There have been 1,605,320 cases of COVID in total, including 24,699 deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.

Preliminary positivity for the seven-day statewide test from Sept. 15-21 is 3.9%.

In the past 24 hours, labs reported testing 118,813 samples for a total of 30,912,653 since the start of the pandemic.

As of Tuesday evening, 2,028 Illinois patients were in hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 494 patients were in intensive care and 262 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

A total of 14,377,808 vaccines were administered in Illinois on Tuesday. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered daily is 19,494. As of Monday, 13,799 vaccines were administered.
