Jonah Hill has said that after years of “public mockery” about his body, he finally loves and accepts himself.

The 37-year-old actor posted a screenshot of a Daily Mail article on Friday, which included shots of the shirtless actor after surfing in Malibu.

“I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my 30s, even in front of my family and friends,” he captioned the photos. “It probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities hadn’t been exacerbated by years of public mockery on my body by the press and interviewers.”

He added that the media “stalking him” and printing photos of him no longer put him in tune.

“I am 37 years old and finally I love and accept myself,” he continued. “This is not a ‘good for me’ item. And it’s definitely not a ‘feel bad for me’ message. It is for children who do not take their shirt off at the pool. Enjoy. You are wonderful and awesome and perfect. All my Love.”

“You are the best in the world, I love you,” commented Hill’s sister, Beanie Feldstein.

Justin Timberlake also commented on the post: “You are a G !!! And my animal spirit! I love you, my brother!”

The “Wolf of Wall Street” actor previously spoke about body image and fashion in an interview with GQ last year.

“I’ve always had an interest in personal style and fashion, but I’ve always been a taller guy,” he told the magazine. “It’s very difficult to dress a certain way when you’re overweight, because clothes aren’t made to look stylish on overweight people. So I think it surprises people.

Hill became an unexpected style icon in 2018 when he started wearing trendy streetwear brands. In 2020, he confirmed that he was collaborating on a project with Adidas.

Meanwhile, Hill – who has been spotted surfing multiple times during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – broke off his engagement to fiancee Gianna Santos in October 2020. It was reported at the time that the split was amicable.
