LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Thousands of people have signed a petition saying the Las Vegas airport should be named Las Vegas International Airport.
As of midnight on Saturday morning, there were just under 8,500 signatures on the change.org petition.
The creators of the petition say renaming McCarran International Airport to Harry Reid International is just a political coup.
They also say the people of Nevada should decide on the name.
Clark County Commissioners unanimously approved the name change earlier this month, which they say will be funded by private donations.
