Increase of E. Coli linked to Kentucky children exposed intensively to fast food

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Kentucky Department of Public Health issued an alert stating that there was a sudden increase in E cases. Coli and that she was related to fast food.

The alert indicates that cases of E. Coli 0103 have been reported from March 5th to 25th in children and adolescents. The Department of Health has confirmed 19 cases and most are in central Kentucky. Fayette County is one of the counties where cases are reported.

According to the health department, those affected have been "widely exposed to fast food".

The epidemic is not limited to young people. Acute diarrhea is a symptom of E. Coli 0103. You will be asked to see a doctor and if you think you may be infected.
